Wardsport - Racing Car Setup

We can set up your vehicle for maximum grip by setting your car up with corner weight scales and ride height settings and track wheel alignment settings. Learned from many years experience both on and off the track.

Before any measurements and adjustments can be made the car must be on a level surface with even tyre pressures. If the floor is not completely flat this will give inaccurate corner weight information and will also affect the wheel alignment readings. The surface of our alignment hoist has been accurately leveled and is level across the whole of its surface. This means we can place the vehicle with different wheelbase and track dimensions with complete confidence that the car is level.

Our Beissbarth system uses German technology to accurately measure the position of each wheel and the angle at which it sits on the road. To do this first the car is driven onto a four post to eliminate the need to settle the cars suspension if it has been raised to allow the wheels to rest on turntables. These turntables allow the steering to turn without any abnormal loads. Next a clamp and measuring head are fitted to each wheel.

Once fitted these measuring heads communicate with each other and the computer and generates a theoretical rectangle around the car automatically. Don’t worry the cars brakes are locked on at this point and the radius plates have safety so the car can’t move off the hoist Once all the measurements have been taken any adjustments can then be made with the suspension in its loaded state.

The various screens on the computer allow for measurement / calculation of camber, caster, KPI or SAI, individual and total toe front and rear, set back and thrust axis, plus lots of other things. The computer has a database of all the manufacturer’s specs on all cars to allow actual settings to be compared with target settings. It also has the facility to input our own target set which allows us to recover a previous set up i.e. Tarmac to forest spec on a rally car, or road race set ups.
