Barton Mawer - Driver Coach

In the old days it was said that champion racing drivers were born, not made – but those days are long gone.

Although modern technology makes it possible to monitor a car's performance at every point around a circuit, the driver has to know how to use that data to save the fractions of a second that make the difference between being a frontrunner and a midfielder.

Australian high-performance driver coach Barton Mawer knows how. When it comes to teaching the tricks of the motor racing trade, he has the necessary experience, knowledge and skills:

  •     Racing experience. He has contested some of the world's most competitive motorsport championships and events, including British Formula 3, Porsche Carrera Cup and Nurburgring 24-hour race.
  •     Technical knowledge. He has worked with top Australian and overseas race engineers using sophisticated data acquisition and analysis software.
  •     Communication skills. He explains complex technical concepts in plain English.

Whether you're an enthusiastic amateur or an aspiring champion, a rookie or a long-time competitor, Barton can help you to get the most out of any car on any racetrack.

If you're new to motorsport, he'll demystify racing rules and procedures.
COACHING RECORD

Barton has been involved in high-performance driver coaching almost since he graduated from go-karts to car racing in 1998.

His coaching resume includes stints with leading Australian and overseas racing teams, racing schools and 'racetrack experience' companies:

  •     Carlin Motorsport, UK.
  •     Palmersport, UK.
  •     Drive Bathurst, NSW.
  •     Fastrack Racing, NSW/Vic./Qld/SA/WA.
  •     Peter Finlay International Racing Drivers School, NSW.
  •     PR Technology, NSW.
  •     Sports Car World, NSW.

Barton's pupils have included Bruno Senna, who subsequently raced in Formula 1, and Sam Bird, who went on to finish second in the 2013 GP2 series.
